2012 Infiniti M Hybrid beats its own fuel efficiency rating of 25 mpg city and 30 mpg highway announced this fall. This time it’s 27/32 which is better than the Mercedes S400 Hybrid and BMW ActiveHybrid models.
Still the newly announced consumption rating is not the lowest among hybrid models. You can travel 41 miles down city streets and 36 miles on a highway having just one gallon in your Lincoln MKZ Hybrid’s tank. Though you won’t be able to enjoy the 302-hp 3.5 V-6 engine Infinity has, and will have to settle for a simpler four-cylinder and a less spacious interior. Infiniti’s electric motor is also quite impressive with its 50 kW and 360 hp.
Being a newbie in the hybrid market, Infinity can be compared to the Lexus GS 450h model rated a combined 23 mpg, which is less than the Infiniti’s combined rating of 29 mpg. Spring will show if a good beginning is half the battle or you must spoil before you spin.
